Been a busy week so far:
Monday I counted money with Allen, he and I met with FRB+, then I met with FRB+ and then I had a really nice talk with Irene, FRB+'s wife. Oops! 1:00 and first meeting of the Gang O' Four: TEF, StoPro, Rock Hunter & The Enforcer! is only an hour away. Runnish home with the church funds, make bed, fluff pillows, stow messes and ladders (don't ask), make brownies and wait.
We met and it was good. The Enforcer herded the cats and Rock enlightened us. Brownies and popcorn were eaten, Coke, hot water and coffee drunk, assignments were - assigned, and all left a little after 5.
I was starving and grumpy that the church's snow hadn't been shoveled and sent a snotty email out. Chalk it up to hunger and tiredness. This didn't stop me from bundling up and going down to Novo at 6:30 to listen to the jazz and eat a steak. If you have read previous entries, you will know that medium rare steak is the best Happy Pill I could ever have!! MMMMmmm!
To my delight Maia and Sasha (20 months) and Val and Jacob (24 months) came to listen to the music, too. Val and I worked on the film festival together and Maia and I met online - kindred music spirits. We all had a great time talking and watching the kids dance.
Ricky Castro was there with crutches! He tore his ankle ligaments when he slipped on the ice. Fortunately it was work-related (or not because it still is painful!). We talked for a while, then we walked home. Nice to live on the same block.
Tuesday morning I woke up early, but was so beat I called Jim and said, NO shopping. He agreed because he had dental work done the day before and was really uncomfortable. I went to the bank to deposit the money, then splurged on a cab to Forest Hills to see Bernie. Worth the money even though the radio station was 'New Light something or another'. Afterwards I wanted to go have some retail therapy but remembered that my carpet was being returned. I waited. And waited. And waited some more. But they finally came, laid the living room rug and then took the other one to the store room. Now all I have to do is pick up the couch slipcover and the room will look decent again. I had a surge of energy last night and decided to do a timed scanning. It took an hour and 7 minutes to do 20 scans. The time would have been shorter if the scanner worked better and I was more facile in taking the pictures out of the folders and reinserting them. Overall, not a bad time though. The project shouldn't take THAT long. A warm bath with Breakers bath crystals and I was asleep by 3.
Wednesday at 8:30ish the phone rang. I was deep in slumber, but it was Velma and we had a great talk. I know how hard it is going to be for her to leave Jewells at home!! When she gets back to work next week I will go in and take her to lunch and find out what I can give the little cutie for a present. After my coffee fix I did 3 loads of laundry and was going to go to the store, but my nose was running. Yes, okay, very funny, but if I didn't have Kleenex in every room there would have been a trail of snot!! About 4 I figured it was an allergy but didn't want to take anything that would knock me out. Why? Well, church at 5 and a meeting at 8. Church was nice. I really like the Wednesday service. Then down to the deli for a beer and some food before the meeting. The meeting which lasted until 10:45. I came into it angry and was, thankfully, taken down a peg, told to explain, and ended up learning a good lesson. Now here I am, after playing 'Noah's Ark' and Mahjong for almost 2 hours.
What is the insight of the week so far? Keep breathing. Don't feel that I have to 'do' things in order to be a 'good' person because in doing that I am keeping others from doing what they should be doing!
So hump day is over and it is now March 1. Wow!
I am on feline duty for the next 5 days. Be prepared for whining about cat allergies. Or I could just take a pill. . . . .
Why the subject line? Today (28th that was - in the category of THEN) was Tom's 60th! I think he still looks like he did when I first met him in 1981. And many years from now, I hope he will still look good.
